3 Keys to an Effective Website Marketing Strategy

By

How effective is your website marketing strategy? If it doesn't include all the essentials, you may need to rethink things. Otherwise, you risk leaving traffic on the table.

Stable free traffic is a ticket to long term online marketing success. Make sure you're incorporating the three important concepts outlined below into your website marketing plan.

Each element has power on its own, but they're much more powerful in combination. Piggybacking several techniques together with these concepts in mind is highly effective.

Diversification

The more you diversify your sources of traffic, and the keywords your site is found for, the more stable your free traffic becomes.

As website owners, we often spend too much time trying to rank high in the search engines for keywords with a lot of demand and competition. We all know that if we can accomplish that, we'll get lots of free website traffic.

For more stable free traffic, however, it's sometimes best to rank for a diversified set of easier to win for keywords. In fact, the larger the number of keywords your site ranks for, the more stable the traffic will be.

For this reason alone, diversifying your keywords should be a key result of your website marketing strategy.

Two ways to diversify are one, build more pages. More pages will result in more internal links, more PageRank, and your site being found for more keywords. Second, increase the number of free traffic sources by creating more unique content and links on other websites.

Leverage

Leverages increases the power of each of the other techniques or methods you may use. Using more powerful sites, for example, you can create links that have much more power than they would on lesser sites.

Using Web 2.0 sites, you can boost your own site's credibility and search engine rankings, and reach markets you could not otherwise reach.

Creating content on various powerful sites is one of the best ways to take advantage of leverage. You can push your site higher up in the search engine rankings, increase traffic, and reach new markets.

Using article submission directories, Hub Pages, Squidoo, and other Web 2.0 properties, you can create powerful backlinks and expose your site to new audiences.

Automation

Automation can free up your time, create leverage, and help you diversify. You can automate entire tasks or parts of them, such as finding link partners and checking backlinks.

Using software is one way to take advantage of automation. You can use software to create links, make article or directory submissions, build a an HTML or XML sitemap, or research new topics for your website.

Applications like Optispider can check your site for SEO mistakes, and fully integrated hosting/marketing solutions like Site Build It! can bring you top search engine placement.

Increase Your Traffic

Is your website marketing strategy working well? If not, try reviving it with leverage, automation, and diversification. Implementing a few small changes can dramatically increase website traffic to any site.

Use leverage by creating unique content on other more powerful sites (such as article directories). If inpointing links are a weakness, seek out linking opportunities. If your site is being found for very few keywords, create more Web pages on your site. If automation is not part of your arsenal, add it now.

Here's a step-by-step website marketing plan that you can steal outright, along with two additional key concepts to incorporate into your current website marketing strategy.

Good tips. I'm into online marketing, too. Do you recommend LSI as a way to diversify one's sources of traffic? I'm always open to new ideas. I've yet to come across a blog / hubpage that discuss LSI and keyword density, though. At least not in a way that's clear and not peppered with marketing geek speak.

@RobertHassey,

No, I have never used LSI. After watching the Stompernet video on LSI versus Google by Leslie Rohde (he explains LSI pretty clearly), I wouldn't recommend it. Enjoy...
